Pilot line: Personal Medication

Inkjet printing for personalisation of pharma products
(building on results from COMET-2D printing for pharmaceutical applications)

Objective: Development of a GMP ready Pilot Line based on an upgraded LP50 inkjet printer from SÜSS with multi-material printing capabilities, able to process up to 8 water-based inks, including active pharmaceutical ingredients APIs, and graphical inks. The process will be combined with dispensing of highly viscous carrier materials and lamination technology.

The Pilot Line will be demonstrated through the fabrication of temporary tattoos incorporating pain relievers or local anaesthetics, enabling personalised medication delivery particularly for children or chronic patients who suffer from dry mouth or needle phobia.

The technology will be made market ready by Domicro, within a certified process for enabling various dosage forms of active pharmaceutical ingredients for different use cases.
